Who is Ethyln Lassiter?

Ethyln Lassiter is
founder of the Ethlyn Lassiter’s Dance Ensemble (ELDE). Ethlyn graduated
from Shaw University in 1992 wit a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Theatre and
minor concentration in Communications. She studied at the Bernice Johnson
Cultural Arts Center and at Dickerson Performing Arts, both located in New
York City. The Bernice Johnson Cultural Arts Center is the dance school
where Ben Vereen, Michael Peters, and many other famous African American
dancers began their careers.
Ethlyn has danced and choreographed for
many events including the Shaw Players of Shaw University; Healthy Mothers,
Healthy Babies; the United Negro College Fund; “Blues” and “Runaways”, both
productions at the National Black Theatre Festival; the Brooklyn Academy of
Music, The Lincoln Center Performing Arts and TV programs and numerous
concert and local events.
Ethlyn began her dance program 9 years ago
at the City of Raleigh Parks and Recreation (Green Road Center) with two
students and grew to over a hundred students. She has now opened her own
dance school, which further gives her an opportunity to enrich the lives of
other children through dance. The school is a positive outlet for
disadvantaged and at risk students and targets those from low to
moderate-income levels.
What is ELDE? The Ethlyn Lassiter’s Dance Ensemble (ELDE) is a
multi-cultural; dance school providing instruction for ages three to adult.
Ethlyn teaches classes in Ballet, African Dance, Jazz, Modern, Tap and
Hip-Hop. The school offers professional groups including “E’s Delight”,
“Prima Divas”, “Jr. Prima Divas”, and “Lil Divas”. The companies have
performed at Shaw University, St. Augustine’s College, the CIAA Basketball
Tournament, the All-Stars Step and Dance Show, the Blue Revue, Atlantic City
Board walk Show and numerous other community and Civic events
The school also offers professional groups including "E's Delight",
Prima, Jr. and Lil Divas.

The companies have performed at Shaw University, St. Augustine's College,
The CIAA, and numerous community and civic events.

Program, committed to educating youth and adult citizens on the fun and
excitement of expressing ones self through the art of dance.
Our dedication to the performing arts, encourage a healthy lifestyle and
discipline for outstanding academic achievement. We are committed to
providing an outlet for the disadvantaged, low-income citizens of the inner
city.
As Board Members, we stand behind this Mission Statement and value all
contributions made toward the efforts of maintaining the integrity and
educational standards we strive to provide for the people of our community.
